YARN is a biannual book-a-zine focusing on textile crafts.
In this issue Scheepjes celebrate the Dutch Masters of art and includes 17 designs alongside articles.
This semi-annual magazine published by Scheepjes is brimming with stylish patterns to make and collect. The patterns are very diverse and the projects are affordable to make.
The theme for this edition is Folk. Each country has its own style of folk art, which reflects its culture and offers outsiders an insight into tradition, people and history. In this issue, the projects are inspired by the Quakers of West America up to the peaks of the Alps. So you come across fillet crocheted, but also fair-isle knitting and punch needle handicraft.
In this issue of YARN bookazine is also sprinkled with a little party, because of the great Christmas projects in it.
With 17 knitting and crochet projects, this YARN bookazine is again a source of inspiration for every craftsman!
The Croft Pattern Book - By Sarah Hatton
The rural agricultural community on the Shetland Islands have a long and prestigious history of rearing Britain’s most northerly native sheep breed and collecting its high-quality wool. This is part of a practice known as crofting, which is integral to the landscape, cultural heritage and social economy of the Shetland Islands. It bonds people and places in a unique way, preserving livelihoods and age old traditions.
We had long awaited the opportunity to work with Shetland Island Wool, a fibre world-renowned for its fineness, warmth and strength. We were delighted to be given the chance by Jamieson & Smith of Shetland to use this fantastic fleece.
To complement this range, we asked the talented Sarah Hatton to design a collection of garments and accessories that were practical yet distinctive. The garments combine traditional design elements with a contemporary edge that really showcase the unique colour effect of the yarn.
With designs for both him and her, this collection features 14 patterns which work in harmony with the yarn to create something truly special.
