When I decided to commission an exclusive hand dyed colourway I wanted the first range to be something nature based. Living in the Lake District was inspiration for the four seasons in the Lake district and Petra was the first person that came to mind to dye it for me.The four colourways have been developed over the last year and is now complete with the final colourway of Summer in the Lakes. They are four stunning colourways that look amazing worked up individually but Petra designed them so that they all work beautifully together as well.
For the latest design of Summer in the Lakes Petra took inspiration from Scafell pike in August with heather around.
Autumn can be purchased here was inspired by an image of the glorious multi tones of a golden Autumnal hillside reflected in the still waters of a lake with dark bare trees lining the side.
Winter can be purchased here - Like everywhere, the Lake District is magical when it has a covering of snow everywhere and that might be seen as being a typical Winter in the Lakes. I was tempted to go with that look. However, the reality and the one that speaks to me most is that for the vast majority of the winter we have snow capped hills in the distance while the rest of the scenery is most often barren, cold, and frosty with a stillness I find hard to explain eloquently.Like charcoal outlines sketched on a canvas, bare trees that stand at the edges of a lake are reflected in the water. Pale, icy blue and grey skies are highlighted by rich, deep sunsets. There is a stunning beauty in the bleakness of this amazing landscape and Petra has captured that.
Spring can be purchased here - Spring was a bit more difficult to find one particular image. One of the places that immediately came to mind was Rannerdale which has many happy memories of years gone by. Spending sunny lazy Spring days/evenings exploring with Milly, surrounded by Bluebells with the most gorgeous view of the hills and shimmering blue of the lake. As Cockermouth was the home of Wordsworth and is therefore synonymous with daffodils I wanted to convey the jaunty, sunny, positive beauty that they bring to this area in spring. The images I found of both were lovely but there wasn't one alone that conveyed how this area feels to me in spring. Petras interpretation of the images I sent her is stunning and she has once again produced a winner that feels like Spring in the Lakes.
