Create a simple chunky cowl/scarf

Create a simple chunky cowl/scarf

Bobbles!

I love a bobble edge so I finished this very simple cowl with a bobble edge. I made it long enough to wrap around twice.

I love these simple and very quick projects! Mindless, but mindful projects.

The @cygnet Utopia looks great crocheted and the tweedy design is complimented by the texture of the simple double v stitch. The bobble border is in Burgundy Stylecraft special Chunky.

I used 2 balls of Utopia in Harlow Carr and a small amount of the Stylecraft Special chunky in Burgundy. I used a 6.5mm hook which is slightly larger than recommended.

CH 23 then dc in 2nd Chain from hook and in each ch across. (22)

.

.

CH 3, turn Skip 2 stitches, *(2 tr, ch 1, 2 tr)* in third stitch, Skip 3 stitches repeat * to*  4 times (5 in total) Skip 2 stitches, tr in last stitch. This can sometimes be a little hard to find right on the end as seen in the image below.

.

.

Ch 3, turn, (2 tr, ch 1, 2 tr) in the ch 1 spaces (between tr) of the previous row, repeat 4 times (5 in total)  tr in top of ch 3, Turn.

.

.

Repeat this row until the scarf reaches desired length (1 did 56 inches) Fasten off.

Leave as a long scarf and add a border or join the two ends with whip stitch and add a border. After joining the two edges I did one round of dc and then one round of htc in the Utopia. I then used Lucy @attic24 bobble edging in the Burgundy special chunky.

I have also used the same pattern for a shorter cowl made with Scheepjes Stonewashed. You can use any yarn and hook. The length of your starting chain should be in multiples of five with three added. I used two balls of Turquoise and a small amount of the Peridot in the cowl I made.

Hello, I love this pattern but am making a right muddle of it – and am only on line 1! I seem to have too many stitches to complete having chained 23. Please can you confirm what should be repeated 4 times? Many thanks – and thanks for the speedy delivery of the gorgeous yarn
