The Stylecraft yarn order arrived on Thursday afternoon and although all I wanted to do was to start sorting the shelving to get it all out I knew that was going to be a marathon task so decided to leave it till the morning :)
I woke early and the day whizzed by in a flurry of unpacking, checking off, dealing with discrepancies on the order, clearing the slower selling lines to the top of the shelves (must get a step ladder as a chair is most definitely not the best option!) and packing all the Aran, Swift knit and new Dk colours into their new homes. Then it was time to gaze lovingly at it all :)
It is not the best looking yarn wall. If I had more space I would display it better, but right now needs must and it is functional and easy to pick from.
The next marathon was to get it all listed on the website. That is a job and a half. Working out costings and deciding on a competitive selling price ensuring I take all the overheads into account, creating a listing, itemising each colour and quantity, editing images and then adding them on. working with a slow internet speed which was tiresome but couldn't be helped as the gale force winds were playing havoc with our already limited internet speed.
I picked all the yarn to make up the Attic 24 packs that had sold out and also made up a new one for the original pack that Lucy put together.
I also added some 100% cotton project bags.
I am not very happy with the images..The weather wasn't great which meant the lighting was poor but I really needed to get them listed as I have things on this week that mean I wouldn't have time to do it.
They do say that necessity is the mother of invention and this is what I had to do to get a backdrop :)
Perhaps I should have ironed the table cover....That might have helped. The idea was actually quite a good one just needs a bit more refining and more light :)
I will take more pictures at some point to replace them.
Two other new products are Stylecraft Super chunky Swift Knit and Stylecraft Special Aran
The weekend was a bit of a slog but...I was working with yarn!!!
I was working at something I actually enjoy doing. Creating accounting systems and work practices feeds my organisational side.
Plus.... today I did all that in Pj's :)
Not bad as work goes.
As I sat at my desk today I looked up to see this..
This is all a big learning curve..Not so much the business side as I have done that before but all the website building is new to me. Although weebly does the majority of it there are so many variables and I know there is more I could do in time as I learn. It gets easier each time I do it though.
The creative aspect of taking the photographs is something I do enjoy and the same thing goes..I will improve with practice and time.
Keeps the old grey matter active :)
Sales have been brisk and I hope that continues :) There is still a list of jobs to work through but that will always be the case. This week the plans are to carry on working through them as and when I have time. We are looking forward to friends coming on Tuesday and a sleepover is happening then on Thursday and Saturday Milly and I have appointments in Carlisle.
Next week will have a different rhythm and that is one of the many things I love about working form home.
Night night xxx
