The edging to the Cath Kidston inspired lap throw has begun and involves Pom poms :)
I haven't got it finished yet but will post the final - thrilling :) - instalment when it is.
In case you missed the previous posts Part one and part two of the process can be found here. I hope to have it finished before I go to Yarndale on Saturday. I can't actually believe it is this weekend! It has come round so quickly.
By chance one of the jobs on my to do list was to create some pom pom garlands so I could add some images to the product pages. I have two brands in stock at the moment. Large and small Clover and a fab multi size pom pom set by Rico.
If you haven't had the pleasure of pom pom making I would suggest you give it a go! It is simple to do and the perfect craft to do with children. Make Garlands, pom pom animals or with the coming season you could make a snowman or a wreath, add them to hats, blankets, bags, create art on a canvas, make a hanging mobile for a nursery, decorate a seasonal tree, the list goes on! It is quite addictive :)
I decided to use Stylecraft Merry go round to get a multi tonal effect. Out of the nine shades I have in stock I plumped for Rainbow.
The resulting effect is fab-u-lous :)
I made ten poms and then threaded them onto a length of yarn. Then you can space them out as you like. I also made a simple flower for each end, added colourful wooden buttons and then used the end of the yarn to sew the flower on and create a loop to hang it with.
A friend popped round this afternoon, we sat surrounded by wool in the very full and cluttered dining room. The new stock has no home yet and some of the items for the studio I have been given mean I can hardly move :) I have a table to pick up from my Mums tomorrow but that will have to be stored in the living room with the bookcases! Not long now and it will all be moved into the studio!
Sandie and I had a good chat and she showed me her new project. It is going to be an amazing throw and I look forward to seeing it grow :)
A day full of yarny things comes to an end sat here watching TV with Milly and Alan. A hot bath awaits and an early night is on the cards.
Need to ensure I am on top form for the rigours of Yarndale :)
