I had decided over the weekend that alongside creating things for work I would spend some time each week learning a new technique... My good friend Liz often comes to our meeting armed with magazines or books that she has bought and one of those was the Compendium of Crochet techniques . It came in the post and it seemed the perfect way to practise new techniques.
Then, before I got started looking for something to do I logged onto Facebook and saw a post from Lucy over at Attic 24 about the new Mandala For Yarndale event. Reading her blog and following the links to Zooty Owls blog I found a Mandala pattern I liked that would fulfil my requirement of learning a new technique ( a double crochet spike, a simple technique but one I have never used ) ) and it also had an added benefit...It gave me a simple task to do as I would be able to sew all the ends in at Knit and natter tonight :)
So I set about it and within a couple of hours - I had breaks from it to feed my lovely girl, numerous ups and downs to let dog out/in, cat out/in, feed cat, feed myself and so on ;)) - I had finished the Mandala and it is now ready to be blocked and to have the ends dealt with tonight. The final stage will be to stiffen it as requested and then I shall pop it in the post. Can't wait to see the end result. If the Bunting that was sent in for last year is anything to go by they are going to need a large space to hang them :)
