Happy crochet days ahead!
Finally, I have the colours chosen for the lap throw in the living room! We are going for a light, bright Scandinavian feel. I am using #Bergere ideal and#bergere caline - all available in the shop at competitive prices ;)) I have in mind that the ideal citronnier in the middle will be the main colour. This may change once I get going. I always get butterflies at this point. There are endless possibilities even though I am going in with a plan. Also love that a throw to snuggle in is being made with Caline which apparently translates to cuddle.
Happy crochet days ahead!
Wednesday morning was full of preparations....The smoothie of the day was such a wonderful, vibrant colour thanks to the fresh beetroot juice. I started with garlic chicken being prepped for later in the week, chickpea falafel and courgette cake for pudding that night . Milly's hair was dyed - as was my favourite nightie ooops:) - thankfully the towel we put on the floor saved the landing carpet from yet another pink splodge!
In the afternoon friends came to play :) We had arranged to eat together and Lisa brought some ingredients and I provided some and together we made a selection that all of us would enjoy. In fact as it turned out we only had to make two dishes. Three of us had kidney bean burgers in buns and chickpea falafel with salad and the other three had sausage, potato waffles with beans :) Then cake and cream for pudd.
We had a wonderful time and luckily the forecast of torrential rain was wrong and the day was warm and sunny. Lots of interesting conversation for Lisa and I and happy children bouncing - not just random tiggerlike bouncing.... there was a trampoline involved ;) playing, taking a walk to the park.
Then, last night Milly and I enjoyed the first Bake off together:)
We love getting to know the new characters and they seem like a great bunch. Mel and Sue make the show for me.
Another unmissable Wednesday night tradition :)
The alarm went off this morning at 9.... Another sociable day ahead with friends from Northumberland coming to visit!
I took the slow approach to getting out of bed and after a shower made a cuppa and pottered around...
Washing was put on, floors were vacuumed and I made up some more room spray - essential oils and water in a spray bottle - this time I chose patchouli, frankincense and geranium .
I refreshed the pot-pourri in the hall with drops of rosemary and bergamot and turned the reeds in the reed diffuser and they quickly filled the sun room with the musky, warm scent of patchouli and frankincense.
I also filled a burner with water and added a few oils for clarity and put that in the dining room.
I look out every day at a gorgeous pink hydrangea and decided this morning that there were enough blooms on it to continue enjoying them outside but enough on it to bring some in to brighten the kitchen counter. I cut some blooms from a white hydrangea as well and one at the top of the garden that has blooms that range from palest pink to a beautiful purple/ blue.
The resulting bouquet gave me inspiration for a vintage colour palette for a future crochet project :)
As I pottered the sounds from upstairs were of Milly getting ready and the accompanying music from All time low.
Another lovely afternoon, chatting, omelettes for a late breakfast/lunch, tea - copious amounts - sunshine, impromptu visit to town, Beauty barking at and trying to catch numerous wasps, more chat, sitting in the garden and a bit of crochet for Liz, wasps galore and more barking and trying to catch them from Beauty, baked potatoes and salad, wasp sting on toe for me!
Obviously Beauty had had some success in her wasp catching mission and a stunned wasp was under the table when I sat down!
Round three tomorrow as My Nephew and his girlfriend come round for tea and a movie :)
Round four of the social whirl on Saturday when we visit Carlisle with Amy and Milly.
Sunday really will be a day of rest! ;)
Love and light <3
A simple tip that is a great way to visualise colour combinations!
I found this over at Pinterest..The link to the original page is broken unfortunately.
However it is a great tip..so easy and effective.
A basket of luscious wool...
Lengthy procrastination over which colour to start with...
A collection to begin...
The first wiggly, worm-like, beginnings of a throw...
My first time recording each step for a pattern...
Lots of writing and lots of photographs intersperse the wonderfully therapeutic hooking...
I have enjoyed all the new things that have been taking up my time.... but, I have missed this so much ..
Making a Chilli for Milly ...leaving it bubbling away gently for a few hours...
Helping a friend with technical 'issues' :)
A rather mediocre meal made for Alan and I - my mind wasn't quite on it - distracted by crochet :)
Recording the first stages of the pattern ...
So HaPpY I made the decision to record it in small daily stages..it is a lot of work!
A long hot bath with a good book..
A full day...
A busy day...
A good day...
The bookcases were emptied..
The boxes were opened and yarn was squished :)
Oohs and Ahhhs over the gorgeous colours...
Then.... a realization of just what this lovely wool represented..
A rush of fear....I didn't fight it.....I allowed it to wash over me...and then let it go.. It is after all quite a normal reaction....Finances have been stretched, belts are being tightened and limbs are being walked out on ;)
Sooo much gorgeousness in one bookcase :)
It's an adventure of the most adventurous kind...
What's the worst that can happen...
It doesn't sell....
we have to eat beans on toast for months....
and I am left with an extra large yarn stash to work from...
Now...... to sort out homes for the stuff that had to make way for the yarn!
and....although there is a jobs list a mile long...I am going to take the rest of the day off.....have a hot bath, then crochet and conserve my energies for the week ahead :)
I hope your weekend is restful and that you get to recharge in whichever way works for you...
Meditation group this morning..<3
Great discussion, great support, great fun, and what could be the tastiest incarnation of our meditation cake yet! What has become our 'meditation cake' began with the basic recipe and each of us has played around and added bits and bobs depending what we have in...Emma's version today was deliciously moist and fruity...
Shopping this afternoon not so <3 a bit of a mixed trip as I was unable to find the ribbon I wanted to go on the lavender bags I had hoped to start tomorrow..Well, to be fair I don't actually know what I want but I do know that when I see it I will know - if that makes any sense! However, on the upside, I did manage to find a crafter tidy tray with a funnel in Dunelm that will make choosing small beads and buttons and putting them back into the jar a much easier and quicker process :)
I am working on a leaflet and poster for the workshops I will be holding next year. We only had wordpad on this laptop which isn't the most comprehensive tool ;) Alan managed to get office13 at a knock down price as he qualified for a special offer at work. I am having great fun playing around with it creating them. Nearly there and then I can get them out and about to advertise.
Another thing I have had immense fun with this evening has been the Cable and cotton pick your own page :)
I am looking for ways to decorate my crafty area come dining room and when I decide on the combination a string of these will be one of the things I add in. The other benefit is that they will not fail to raise a smile each day with their cheery, twinkly-ness :)
Colourful and practical...I love this image - it looks fresh and modern but still has that vintage feel... The place mat's are on my ( very long ) list of things to make :) I don't think I could follow the chart in the link - maybe...... if I actually spent some time I 'might' be able to - look's a bit complicated though :) I will look around for a pattern or might just have a play around and see what I come up with :)
Hi, I'm Lynn. A love of crochet and a newly found passion for fabric, button's, bead's and charm's has led to an exciting new challenge..
