I have had the busiest day reorganising the dining room. It is now a dedicated warehouse/yarn store and all areas are being sorted to create a neat and accessible work space with the yarn all shelved and out of the large plastic sacks they were in to make picking and packing orders a quicker process.
All the yarn is stored in plastic bags to keep it fresh and clean. Although I would prefer it to look prettier it needs to be functional first and foremost and with limited space that means it might not be as aesthetically pleasing :)
I still need lots more shelving and I have to create space to store the Rico yarns when I order them.
As time goes on and the range I offer grows I know I will need to adapt again. I will cross that bridge when I get to it though :)
The morning started with the table and kitchen holding the many items from the shelves and the sacks of yarn
By later afternoon with the help of my gorgeous warehouseman we had half of the room organised.
The billy bookcases ( LOVE Ikea! We were trying to work out how long we have had these and we think they have been with us in 5 different houses over 20 years) hold Bergere Ideal and a selection of Rowan yarns and the plastic boxes hold the haberdashery..the new scissors and tape measures and pompom makers, crochet hooks, yarn needles and so on
The cupboard in the corner is organised with everything I need to pack the orders. milly has stuck return address labels on a stash of bags and I have a large stash of flower tags and all the things I include in parcels.
In the opposite corner is a space for me to sit and crochet and the cupboard is to be used for storing the overstock of Stylecraft dk (it sells so well that I need to hold as much stock as I can) After a bit of fun over on instagram this space is now known as the Jeni corner :)
Looking back from that corner to the completed and organised space <3
Another really lovely thing that has happened over the last few days is that people who have bought yarn and yarn packs from me have been sharing their completed project made from the yarn bought <3
I am going to create a page on here to showcase any work that gets shared with me once I get permission to do so :)
Lots of inspiration and on top of that - who doesn't like looking at pictures of crochet and knitting! Ok there might be some but they probably aren't reading here :)
The first few customer makes are above.
The Sunshine Throw pack has been used and tweaked to make a delightful creation with a pom pom edge<3
The Spring has sprung pack was bought with a few other colours added by the customer and used to create this stunning blanket, gorgeous in it's simplicity allowing the pastel colours to shine <3
The baby blanket and the adorable cardigan were made using Stylecraft special Dk.
The Cath Kidston inspired throw was made by a customer. I had posted a colour combo of a project I had in my projects to do list to create a Cath Kidston throw and she kindly shared her version with me. <3
I LOVE getting these images sent and seeing how talented all you guys are :)
Milly has gone the the Cinema to watch The Avengers with friends and Alan went to see Spooks. I was going to go with him but that would have been a step too far for me today. We might go and see it again if he enjoys it.
They will be home shortly and the house will be filled with the sound of three teens:) Us oldies will probably hit the sack in preparation for working on the other half of the room tomorrow.
Night night xxxxx
