On Monday this week I worked hard to finalise my tri fold leaflet and poster, the gift pack and voucher for the workshops I aim to hold in the New year. I had a template for the poster and leaflet which I was able to customise but had to create the voucher from scratch. I started them late afternoon and was just finishing them off when Alan came in from Tai chi at nine pm! Mainly due to an inability to get them to look how I wanted them to and lack of experience at working on word. I have a stubborn streak and a reluctance to be beaten though! I got there in the end....Learning more each time I attempt these things :))
We were out on Tuesday to take Milly to a hospital appointment and we had a late lunch in town. We met up with Liz and the girls at Walby farm park on Wednesday for the afternoon which involved me driving home in the dark - always a stressful event in my book! Thursday we had a visit from My Mum and Dad for lunch and then on Friday I finished off an order using some teeny, tiny seed beads which took longer than I had anticipated. Milly was on great form and kept me company though and we had a good giggle throughout the day.
I was going to go into town today to finish off the Xmas present shopping but as this week has been a busy one and I am particularly tired I decided it was important to take my foot off the pedal, forgo the planned trip and spend the day at home to recoup.
Alan and I did get togged up in the afternoon to brave the wet and very windy weather and went to the next village to attend the 'Christmas in the Village' celebrations. The weather had meant that they were unable to erect the marquee and all the stalls and such had to be indoors but we enjoyed it and managed to get a few more presents bought - lovely handmade items :) Back home within the hour and I made a turkey chilli before we all sat round the table wrapping present's and writing cards.
I had hoped to create some snowflake garlands and decorations this week and some lavender bags ....If I didn't have to pace myself I could have managed them but I have to be so careful not to overdo things and end up unable to do anything....There were things I had to do this week like the hospital visit and things I wanted and needed to do like connect with good friends and my work focus had to be on getting the workshops organised so I can advertise them before Xmas and unfortunately I just wasn't able to do everything I wanted to do...
M.E is such a frustrating illness but having lived with it for so long I know how far to push myself and when it is time to pull back... Not ideal when trying to run a business but I want to fit the business around my life and it is no bad thing to have a very physical reminder that is the aim of the game ;) Over the next year I will fine tune things so that time needed to create items is balanced with other ways to create income that is less time intensive. I have ideas on how I might be able to do that but it will involve some risk and a financial outlay .....step by step, slowly but surely.... if it is meant to be ....it will evolve..
