It took some time to get out of bed this morning! I had a busy couple of days and they took it out of me so I was gentle with myself and enjoyed a slow start. I woke before eight which was a little annoying. Plenty of thinking time before I got up though :) I come up with some of my best ideas in that sleepy, cosy, comfortable half awake state.
I had been over to Newcastle on the train with Mum. After a sleepover at hers on Sunday we set off at 10.30am on Monday to get the train at 11.35. Off the train and a stroll up Grainger st, just in time to leap onto a bus up to the Freeman hospital, then an hour with Dad - being told the great news that he could come home in a couple of days! - back on a bus to the station. There followed a bit of a hurdle when the tickets wouldn't go through the machine!!! My brain was obviously not firing on all cylinders when I booked them as I had inadvertently booked the return for the 2nd march instead of Feb.I was sure I had triple checked them!
New tickets bought and off we went again. We got to Carlisle at 6pm in time to meet a group of Mum's friends for a meal. Lovely to meet them all. They worked together and have met for a meal once a month for about 20 years. They were great company and made me feel very welcome.
Home by 9.30 for a bath and bed :)
A very lazy Tuesday morning at Mum's - my new addiction to solitaire on the kindle and a good book kept me glued to the sofa - then home for lunch with Mum before she headed off and an afternoon catching up on work stuff before making an easy but tasty meal for us all.
Today I decided what to include on a new order from Stylecraft. I needed to replenish quite a bit of Special Dk and added some new colours of the special Aran. I finally got round to ordering some of the Life Dk. I think I eventually managed to whittle it down to 11 or 12 colours from the range. It is tough when I want them all :) I have to keep reminding myself that I will get there and slowly but surely I will stock them all.
I had the Instagram give away prize to pack up this morning and then a flurry of orders came through and a number of enquiries for various things which kept me busy til late afternoon. I also listed and photographed some new printed drawstring bags and more dotty tote bags. I had sold out of the few I had purchased as a trial.
They are brilliant for knitting, crochet or other craft, project bags but also very useful for storage around the home. Now that we are paying for carrier bags in more and more places the tote bags are also great to have folded up in your bag when you are out shopping. Another fun use for the plain ones is to make them your own and either use fabric paint or appliqué to create an individual design. A great project for crafty kids too..
In amongst the jobs for work I hoovered and tided round, washed up, hung washing, saw to the animals, sliced and marinated some chicken in lemon, lime juice and olive oil, put it in the fridge ready to make cornflake chicken for tea.
I had phone calls to make for home related things and emails - one of which was to arrange a refund for the train tickets.
We ate (lovely crunchy cornflake chicken, salad and chips) then I took my book and had a nice hot bath.
I was very busy today and although it had a slow start the day flowed seamlessly.
I was able to pace myself. It feels like working from home has changed again and a rhythm has evolved that works. A big part of that is doing little and often and keeping on top of things, being organised and forward planning.
I know there are going to be days when it isn't as flowing ;)
All I can do is to keep doing what I do and work the times that suit me best, balancing that with plenty of rest where possible and Ill just keep working on ways to fit in what needs to be done without overdoing things.
